Federal Pro Se Assistance Program
thru: Just Cause
• Provides limited scope legal assistance with a volunteer attorney to individuals who cannot afford an attorney. The program may assist if an individual already has filed a lawsuit, wants to file a lawsuit, or has been sued in the Federal US District Court for the Western District of New York. This program may be able to help with non-criminal matters in federal court. The attorney will not go to court with the client. The volunteer attorney can provide:
- Information about federal court procedures and the law as it applies to the facts provided by the client
- Advice about preparing pleadings, motions, or other court documents
- Advise about discovery and motion practice
- Referrals to other services
Eligibility: Resident of area served.
Application Process: Walk-ins only. Walk-ins are taken on a first come first serve basis.
Required Documentation: Call for information.
Fees: No fee for services.
