Family Mentor
thru: Catholic Charities Family and Community Services
• Offers volunteer opportunities to work closely with refugee families, communicating and working directly with them for up to 5 years.
- Training is provided
- Requires 30 volunteers
- Hours will depend on volunteer and staffing needs
- Will spend time with families in their home practicing conversational English
- Assisting clients in getting familiar with the neighborhood and resources available to them
- Driving clients to appointments and sometimes attending to help with advocacy
- Educating on general housekeeping and cleanliness
- Learning about client financial literacy and applying that knowledge to US finances
- Schedules will be discussed and established with the volunteer before volunteering
- Can be used to fulfill ABAWD (Able-bodied without dependents) hours
Eligibility: Residents of area served, no criminal history.
Application Process: Call for information.
Required Documentation: Passing a background check, criminal history disclosure, application form. More documents need to be reviewed once the volunteer has been accepted.
Fees: No fee for services.
