Discrimination Assistance - Rochester Office

Provides investigation and mediation services for those who feel they have been discriminated on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, physical disability, visual disability, psychiatric mental disability, marital status, source of income, age, sex, transgender status, arrest or conviction, family status, genetic predisposition, carrier status, sexual preference, military status, domestic violence victims,and sexual harassment and pregnancy discrimination.

Provides enforcement of State and Federal laws against discrimination.

Eligibility: Alleged discriminatory act occurred in New York State within one year prior to filing complaint. Willingness to cooperate during investigation.

Application Process: Call, or visit website. State, and sign (or e-sign) complaint of discrimination. Complaint form available on web site, or mailed upon request.

Required Documentation: Photo ID may be required for notarization.

Fees: None.

Coverage Note: Allegany, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates Counties.

Languages: Spanish. Other language assistance available, for any language requested, including sign language.
