As of March 16th, 2020 closed for non-essential business. All court matters are being rescheduled and individuals will be notified by mail. Only emergency applications will be taken until further notice. If you need to file a petition for emergency relief, contact an attorney or a domestic violence advocate for assistance. Domestic Violence agencies are Chances & Changes at 585-658-3940 or Victim Advocate at the Livingston Sheriff's Department at 585-243-7046.

Offers family court services and provides the following: 
  • Child abuse and neglect proceedings initiated by DSS
  • Child Support proceedings
  • Paternity proceedings
  • Juvenile delinquency proceedings initiated by the presentment agent
  • Persons in Need of Supervision (PINS) proceedings
  • Custody and visitation proceedings
  • Adoptions
  • Guardianship proceedings
  • Family offense proceedings (requests for orders of protection)

Eligibility: One of the parties or child must reside in Livingston County.

Application Process: Walk in to Family Court office or, under certain circumstances, filings may be mailed to the office.

Required Documentation: Photo ID and additional documents as required by a specific type of proceeding.

Fees: None.
