  • Paternity proceedings. 
  • Juvenile delinquency proceedings initiated by the presentment agent. 
  • Persons in Need of Supervision (PINS) proceedings. 
  • Custody and visitation proceedings. 
  • Adoptions. 
  • Guardianship proceedings. 
  • Family offense proceedings (requests for orders of protection).

Eligibility: One of the parties or child must reside in Livingston County.

Application Process: Walk in to Family Court office or, under certain circumstances, filings may be mailed to the office. Call for information.

Required Documentation: Photo ID and additional documents as required by a specific type of proceeding. Call for information.

Livingston County Family Court is a state court that hears the following types of proceedings involving children and families: custody/visitation, paternity, child and spousal support, domestic violence (family offense) adoption, guardianship, permanent neglect, neglect, abuse, juvenile delinquency, and person in need of supervision (PINS).
