Please check with DHS or a supporting agency first for eligibility. Only those who are NOT eligible for DHS services should contact Hope Initiatives directly.

* Provides individuals and families who have active cases with the Monroe County DHS with furniture, used appliances, moving and delivery at no cost.
  • Referral from other agency. 
  • Participants must have a voucher from DHS. 
* Provides the general public, including private households with furniture, used appliances, moving and delivery at a lower cost than market rate.

* Manufactures furniture that is distributed as part of its services, including sofas, dining tables/chairs, mattresses, dressers, steel bed frames, and cabinetry.

* Provides churches and businesses with a "charity package" program to help those in need. Charity packages include a dining set (table & chairs), a dresser, a full/twin steel bed frame with mattress, a sofa and linen bundle, as well as delivery within five days or less.

Eligibility: DHS recipients must have an active case with DHS and an approved voucher to receive furniture and services at no cost to them. Services for clients of non-DHS agencies must be arranged and paid by the sponsoring agency. For all other services, please call for more information.

Application Process: DHS recipients must first visit DHS office at 691 St Paul Street, windows #1 or #2 to request a voucher for Hope Initiatives. All others may call for assistance and to get a fee quote. Non-DHS clients must speak/visit with their sponsoring agency. The agency will place the order with Hope Initiatives.

Required Documentation: DHS must send a voucher/request to Hope Initiatives. Other sponsoring agencies must send an order form. The agency may contact admin@makinghopepossible.com to request the form.

Fees: Offered at no cost to DHS clients and clients of other sponsoring agencies. For all other rates, call.

Hope Initiatives provides furniture, appliances, household goods and moving services for low-income individuals who have active cases with Monroe County Department of Human Services (DHS) or other agency and are approved to receive needed items. DHS or the agency must cover the cost of the items. Hope Initiatives also provides affordably priced furniture, household goods, appliances, and moving services for the general community. Delivery is included for all Monroe County locations. Hope Initiatives offers a work readiness program called HOPE Works.
