* Facilitates applications for financial assistance to seniors through the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), which offers various benefit components.
  • Regular Benefit: assists low income individuals with the cost of heating their home. 
  • Emergency Benefit: assists low income individuals who are facing a heat or heat related energy emergency.

Eligibility: Low-income individuals ages 60 years and older who do not receive temporary assistance or SNAP benefits. If recipient of temporary assistance or SNAP benefits, then contact worker.

Application Process: By mail or over the phone. No walk-ins, appointments only, some situations can be resolved over the phone. Call for information.

Required Documentation: Call for information.

Fees: No fee for services.

Lifespan of Greater Rochester provides older adults and caregivers with information, guidance, and support services. Lifespan also provides training and education for allied professionals, and the community.
