* Offers fire protection, fire suppression and protection of life and property from fire.
  • 15 stations located in the City of Rochester.
* Provides assistance to homeowners and businesses in safeguarding and salvaging property.

* Conducts planning and research.
  • Coordination of short and long term research for new programs.
  • Analysis and evaluation of on going programs.
  • Cooperation with community organizations to develop fire prevention programs.
* A member of the Rochester Healthy Homes Partnership Member Organization.

Eligibility: Protective Volunteer Force: Ages 18 years and over. Resident of City of Rochester. Pass a physical exam.

The Rochester Fire Department responds to numerous emergency situations, such as vehicle extrication, medical emergencies, high-level rescue, hazardous materials incidents, structural collapse, swift water rescue, and many more emergency operations.
