* Lends audio andbraille books on cartridge as well as audio and braille magazines and playbackequipment, along with hard copy braillebooks and magazines, to residents of Upstate New York who are unable to use standard printed materials because of a visual, physical or reading disability.

* Provides books and magazines downloading services through BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download).

Eligibility: Be unable to read standard printed materials because of visual or physical disability (missing limb, severe arthritis, etc.) or have a diagnosed reading/learning disability. Must have an IOS, android or recent kindle device to download digital braille and audio books from BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download)

Application Process: Call or e-mail for information. Download application from website.

Required Documentation: Certification by reading specialist, professional staff at hospitals, institutions, social/case worker, counselor or doctor of medicine.

Fees: No fees for service or for mailing.

The New York State Talking Book and Braille Library (TBBL) lends audio and braille books and magazines, and the necessary playback equipment, to residents of New York State who are unable to use standard printed materials because of visual, print or physical disabilities.
