Educational Program

thru: Deaf Refugee Advocacy, Inc.

Teaches classes, tutoring sessions, and workshops for various topics such as:
  • American Sign Language (ASL). 
  • Read and write in English. 
  • Manage money wisely. 
  • How to do things on your own, like cooking and cleaning. 
  • Becoming a US citizen and know about US history and government. 
  • Care of your health and body. 
  • Manage feelings and have good relationships. 
  • How to be ready for a job and work well. 
  • Helps families learn ASL and about Deaf culture. 
  • Learn how to use computers.

Eligibility: Deaf refugees, asylum-seekers, immigrants, and those from US territories and family members.

Application Process: Walk in, visit website, or call. To guarantee availability, it is best to make an appointment.

Required Documentation: All papers relevant to status in this country such as: ID, Social Security number, Visa, etc.

Fees: No fee for services.

Coverage Note: Monroe County.

Languages: American Sign Language- Staff provides service in language offered, Staff provides in-person interpreter, Materials/literature in language indicated
