• Oversees the proceedings in order to ensure that the assets of the estate are managed and distributed in accordance with New York State law and/or the decedent's wishes.

Surrogate's Court also has jurisdiction in adoption proceedings.

Eligibility: The subject of the proceeding should be or had been a resident of Monroe County. 17A guardianship proceedings for persons above the age of 18 with a disabilty and under age 18 if there is property involved.
