Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)
thru: Court Appointed Special Advocates of Rochester/Monroe County
• Provides independent investigation of the children's environments, safety, health, education and visitation and others as needed.
• Presents concerns to the court, attorney, and caseworker and others.
• Advocates for permanent placement, monitors court action plans and reports progress to the court and all parties.

Eligibility: Volunteers: Ages 21 years or older. Background checks. Successful completion of an extensive training program. Children: Must be assigned by Family Court judge. Any party to the case may request a CASA be appointed.
Application Process: Volunteers apply on-line or through National CASA to become a volunteer advocate. For families and children wishing to have a CASA assigned: must be involved in neglect or abuse case and have attorney request CASA be assigned by the Family Court judge.
