• Responsible for supervising charitable organizations to protect donors and recipients from dishonest practices in soliciting and managing charitable resources.
• Supervises activity of foundations and other charities to ensure their funds and property are appropriately used and protect the community.
• Maintains a registry of charities and fundraising professionals.
• Investigates complaints that include Wrongdoing by charitable businesses, trusts, or other nonprofit organizations. Fraudulent or misleading solicitation and improper spending of money for charitable purposes. Inappropriate activities of executors, administrators, trustees, and personal representatives responsible for honoring pledges or gifts to charity.
